Measure one, cut twice
Get the idea into the real world. The story of how and why an object came to life matters more than getting every millimeter perfect.
About MATTY
Meet the objects from Matty Benedetto, the creator of Unnecessary Inventions. Thoughtful, playful things made to live in your space.
Small runs. A point of view. And yes, you can actually buy these.

The story
From his studio in Burlington, Vermont, Matty Benedetto builds elaborate solutions to problems that don’t exist. You might know the Burrito Bumper, the Crocs Gloves, or the Lonely Lounger.
Some ideas don’t quite fit the Unnecessary Inventions world. MATTY gives them a permanent home: objects designed with the same playful thinking and care, but made for a real production run.
The Self Aware Lamp. The Monobloc Charger. The Unown AirTag Holders. If it’s here, Matty thought it was worth making.
The approach
Get the idea into the real world. The story of how and why an object came to life matters more than getting every millimeter perfect.
Every object needs something to say: a clear reference, a different perspective, or a little commentary on the world around us.
The punchline is only the beginning. An object should serve a purpose, find a place in your life, and keep bringing you joy.
